
Classroom Activities section is designed to enrich the student's classroom study on the Civil War, United States history and specifically on the formation of the (USCT) of the United States Colored Troops of The District of Columbia during the spring of 1863.
These lessons can be used as stand-alone resources or in conjunction with the documentary series Black, Copper, & Bright and the companion book, Black, Copper, & Bright: The District of Columbia's Black Civil War Regiment. The activities are targeted for use in secondary school classroom settings; however each lesson can also be modified for the elementary grades as well.  The First, USCT, 1914
