Inventor's Hall of Fame
Lewis Howard Latimer was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts on September 4, 1848. His family was poor and as a young lad barely in his teens he sold copies of "The Liberator," (William Lloyd Garrison's abolitionist newspaper) on the street. At the age of 16 he enlisted in the Union Navy, served as a "landsman' onboard the "U.S.S. Niassasoit" and was honorably discharged in 1865. For more information on Latimer, click on photo.

The TruVote System was invented after the 2000 Presidential
Election by Athan Gibbs, Sr. It became apparent that several inadequacies existed with the voting systems currently used in the United States. His determination that "it has to be a much better way" coupled with his auditing background enabled him to create the TruVote system which provides an audit trail and gives each voter the ability to audit his or her own ballot.
