In this film, Pablita Velarde reflects on her life as an Native American artist for nearly 50 years. The film employs visuals of her very early watercolors and more recent earth color paintings. She illustrates and describes the ancient earth color technique from gathering and grinding of rocks and dirt, through the mixing of paints and finally sketching and painting. Pablita, through her art and storytelling, gives an intimate glimpse of the values and customs of her culture.
